Registrar's Letter
18th July, 1908

answer to question 515 of the Report, he thought it was a "very
ill-reward for having allowed the Registrar to have the sole
use of his clerk for more than one year"! Mr. Seth himself has
repeatedly given out that he could not get on with his work as
he was made to do clerk's work in the Chief Justice's Chambers
whatever he may now think fit to say to the contrary. This is a
matter of common notoriety, but of course as the Enquiry has
been directed personally against myself this matter was never
gone into beyond the Chief Justice being questioned on the
subject. I have already pointed out that since the scandal of
the 7th. of July brought on by my being insulted by the Chier
Justice and made to apologise for resenting his gross insults
and false accusations against myself, a matter which I am now
for my own justification and defence compelled to go into, and
advisedly so, especially as this matter was touched upon by the
Commission itself, things have gone rapidly from bad to worse,
advantage being taken of my compulsory apology, although as 1
have already pointed out, Mr. Seth has since been seen more
often at the Deputy Registrar's seat in the kegistry. I am sor-
ry that his honour the Chief Justice thinks it a "very ill-
reward" for the offer of the sole use of our joint clerk whom
he thought not fit to assist him as clerk, especially as i am
considered unfit to be Registrar and therefore must have stood
very greatly in need of the valuable talent of my learned
Deputy !!
I have etc.,
